Go Nuts For Nutmeg!
Indian Nutmeg Oil
At Khush, we understand the importance of using safe and compliant ingredients in the flavouring industry. As per EU regulations, nutmeg can be used as a flavouring agent in food products if it meets the set limits for methyl eugenol and safrole, which are 10 parts per billion (ppb) and 20 parts per million (ppm) respectively, as per European Regulation (EC) No. 1881/2006. However, we want to be transparent that our nutmeg oil does not meet these limits set by the European regulation for methyl eugenol and safrole.
Despite this, we still believe that our nutmeg oil is a valuable ingredient for the industry. Nutmeg oil from India tends to have lowerconcentrations of methyl eugenol and safrole compared to other sources such as Indonesia. This means that our nutmeg oil may still be a suitable ingredient for certain applications where the limits set by the European regulation are not strictly enforced.

At Khush Ingredients, we take transparency seriously and we provide comprehensive information on allergens and values for all our oils, readily accessible through our detailed safety data sheets and CoAs, available upon request. Additionally, we clearly state the methyl eugenol and safrole content in our CoAs. Our commitment to transparency is what sets Khush apart and we provide our customers with all the information they need to make informed decisions about their ingredient choices. We understand that our nutmeg oil may not be suitable for all applications, but we would be happy to discuss potential uses and alternative options with you.
