Eucalyptus citriodora
Introducing our Product of the Month for March – Eucalyptus citriodora which is an excellent natural source for citronellal, an often-used substance in insect repellent!
Our Eucalyptus citriodora is registered with both UK and EU REACH programs.
Eucalyptus citriodora, also known as lemon-scented gum, is native to Australia but is widely grown in other regions. We source our conventional Eucalyptus citriodora from China and Brazil, where all our supply partners comply with our Sustainability and Ethical policy. We also stock organic Eucalyptus citriodora, which we source from Madagascar.

At Khush we take pride in our technical expertise, and for our Eucalyptus citriodora, we test for plasticizers in the oil. Plasticizers, a type of phthalates, are used to soften a type of plastic called polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Due to them not being bound to the polymer plastic, if any plasticizer residue is left in the container, they will contaminate the oil easily. Plasticizers can appear in the oil if improper manufacturing process occurs when handling the product in the field.
The quantities of plasticizer found in products can be in the millionths but are of significant health concerns despite dilution factors. They are of substantial concern due to their potential endocrine disrupting properties and developmental toxicity, and low Maximum Allowable Dosage Levels (MADL).

At Khush, we use fluorinated high density polyethylene (FHDPE) containers, which means the inner lining is fluorinated, providing a highly inert container. This prevents any phthalates entering our oils from our production facility. By testing each drum that arrives, and ensuring safe containers are being used, you can be assured that our Eucalyptus citriodora is 100% natural with no detectable contaminants.
