Cananga / Ylang oil the same thing? That’s a bit of a REACH
Khush Ingredients are proud to announce that we have successfully acquired full registration for Cananga Oil under UK REACH
Indonesian Cananga Oil
Over the last year, we have produced a full dossier for Cananga oil, including physicochemical data, CLP and GHS classification, environmental properties, Hazard assessments, and historical toxicological data. Full registration was required as Cananga is seen as a novel substance under UK REACH, as no dossier had been registered under EU REACH before.

This purchased toxicological data is from the 1970’s, after technical checks concluded there was enough similarities of the oil used the006E to the material we supply today. It provides all the necessary information on the toxicity and sensitivity of Cananga, avoiding the need for animal testing, which we strongly oppose. Cananga Oil is known to be similar to Ylang-Ylang, as they come from the same botanical species, Cananga odorata. However, their component profiles are somewhat different, with Cananga being slightly heavier with higher levels of beta-caryophyllene in the component profile. Our Cananga oil is derived from the macrophylla variety of the Cananga odorata tree and is grown in Indonesia. Our Ylang-Ylang is derived from the genuine variety of Cananga odorata which we source from Madagascar.

This results in Cananga being identified as a new substance for UK REACH, and so requires comprehensive studies for it to be deemed safe to import under HSE guidelines
We have full registration for Cananga Oil from 1 to 10 tonnes
