Mentha Citrata is a perennial herb which belongs to the mint family ‘Lamiaceae’. The main constituents in Mentha Citrata oil are Linalyl Acetate and Linalool, making the chemical composition very similar to that of Bergamot, and resulting in the popular nickname ‘Bergamot Mint’.
The oil is sourced by Khush Ingredients from trusted producers in the northern regions of India. The Indian climate is characterised by subtropical conditions, making it the perfect environment for the Mentha Citrata crop to thrive. Extreme rainfall and drought are not favourable as these negatively affect the Linalool and Linalyl Acetate levels and result in a weaker scent and lower quality crop.

Applications:

Mentha Citrata oil is extracted from the flowering, ariel plant of the Mentha Citrata crop through the process of steam distillation, producing layers of herbaceous, fresh and lavender-like notes. As a unique variety of mint with a distinctive scent, Mentha Citrata oil has become a popular ingredient in perfumery and fragrance applications, proven by a consistent high demand. However, whilst the demand remains high within the market, due to increased rainfall there has been less than expected crop this annum which has resulted in a slight price increase.

Quality Control:

At Khush, we are proud to offer both Organic and Conventional Mentha Citrata oil of Indian Origin.

Our producers’ dedication to organic standards ensures that every drop of Mentha Citrata oil is pure, natural and of the highest quality. This is proven through the employment of field officers to check that no pesticides or fertilizers contaminate the fields or farms containing the Mentha Citrata crop.
