Description:

Citronella oil is obtained from the leaves and stems of different species of Cymbopogon (lemongrass). Citronella oil is used as a source of perfumery chemicals, for instance citronellal, citronellol and geraniol. These chemicals are extensively used in soaps, candles, perfumery, cosmetics etc.

Citronella oil has strong antifungal properties and finds popular use as a repellent for insects as well as animals. The high content of citronellal, citronellol and geraniol give the oil its characteristic grassy/floral scent.
